A court summons secretarially signed by Aaron Burr as prosecuting attorney for Martha Bradstreet, the heir of General John Bradstreet. She brought suit to several people to the Supreme Court of New York regarding land that was wrongfully sold by the executor of General Bradstreet's estate. Aaron Burr, a friend of the deceased, represented Martha in her pursuit in several New York counties.

Here, he issues a court summons to a man’s attorney, J.W. Mulligan, writing: "this cause to trial at the Circuit Court to be held at the Court House in Delhi in the County of Delaware on the Second Monday of June next at ten o'clock in the forenoon of that day." The verso features a certificate of service signed by the city attorney and commissioner.

A Founding Father, Aaron Burr served as 3rd Vice President of the United States under Thomas Jefferson. He is best remembered for killing Alexander Hamilton in their infamous duel. This document dates to when Burr returned from his self-imposed exile, continuing his legal career in New York.
