Aba Panu Meteorite End Cut Ordinary chondrite (L3) Oyo, Nigeria - (8° 16' 56"N, 3° 34' 2"E) Witnessed Fall: April 19, 2018 There is nothing ordinary about this chondrite which has been assigned the L3 designation. Low in metal content, and exhibiting virtually pristine chondrules, this superb Aba Panu end cut features a spectacular polished window display face, replete with an intense conglomeration of clasts of various sizes and colors in a pleasing green-gray matrix. Weighing a sizable 876 grams, the extremely thick, rocky mass measures almost 4.5 inches (11.4 cm) across. The contrast between the finished surface and the natural exterior is sublime, and this represents a rare, witnessed fall – only one of seven of the L3 variety that has ever occurred in all of meteorite history. This superlative rock would surely enhance any meteorite collection.
