The sheet is part of a monumental collection of etchings made by order of Louis XIV, commonly known as the Cabinet du Roi, the first volume of these prints was printed in 1677. The drawing for the impression was made by AF van der Meulen, a Flemish painter specialized in battles, also known because he supplied numerous cartoons for tapestries depicting the exploits of the life of the Sun King. Le Blanc cites some landscape prints by Genoels based on a design by van der Meulen. Specimen in good condition.
