Partly-printed vellum DS as president, one page, 14.25 x 19.75, July 5, 1864. President Lincoln appoints William Wise as "First Lieutenant in the Signal Corps in the service of the United States." Signed at the conclusion by President Lincoln and countersigned by Secretary of War Edwin M. Stanton. The blue seal affixed to the upper left remains intact. Framed and in very good condition, with scattered spotty stains, and fading to the body of the document making it difficult to read; Lincoln's signature is bolder in comparison.
