Ancient Near East, Achaemenid to Sasanian (Sassanian / Sassanid) Empire, ca. 6th century BCE to 7th century CE. A collection of 5 stone seal beads and faience beads in the form of zoomorphs, perhaps rabbits or some other rodent. The largest seal bead has linear markings, and the other hemispherical bead has a lion in profile, and both are pierced through the center for suspension. The white bead is carved from quartzite with light remains of a blue glaze on the surface. Size of largest: 0.62" Diameter (1.6 cm)

Provenance: private Matrisciano collection, Thousand Oaks, California, USA, before 2002; ex-Malter Galleries, Encino, California, USA
