Achaemenid Stone Stamp Seal w/ Faravahar
Ancient Near East, Achaemenid Persian Empire, ca. 550 to 330 BCE. A lovely stamp seal carved from black-hued stone with the bottom bearing two ancient winged sun symbols known to the Achaemenids as the Faravahar. Each instance of the Faravahar features a radiant sun disc flanked with a pair of majestic feathered wings and is presented on one side of a central panel depicting a quintet of vertically striated columns. A slightly rounded topside, smooth peripheries, and a suspension hole drilled lengthwise through the body. Custom putty impression included. Size: 0.7" W x 0.6" H (1.8 cm x 1.5 cm)
