\Artist: Ad Arma
Technique: Etching\Signature: Hand signed
Ad Arma, pseudonym of Ad Robert Meerman, (Rotterdam, 23 July 1954) is a Dutch sculptor, graphic artist, painter, and glass artist. In his early period he worked under the name ARM. Ad Arma is Latin for 'to arm' or 'to battle'. As a child, Arma became interested in art by reading books and by a brother at his boarding school who hammered copper objects. He studied at Artibus, Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Utrecht (1974-1979) . He makes gouaches, oil paintings, graphics (etchings) and sculptures: bronze, ceramic and glass objects. His early sculptures are robust, his later works much more slender. Asia plays an important role in his work. For seventeen years he collaborated with the Japanese artist Jiro Inagaki in the Netherlands and in Japan. In his paintings he is inspired by his trips to Japan, India, Nepal, and other countries in Asia and in 2008 by his trip to Spitsbergen. Please note, this is a unique lithograph. Ad Arma did not make this lithograph an edition, this is the only lithograph, this makes the work very rare! Any damage and unevenness visible in the photos are part of the description. Viewing is possible, of course. All information can be found on our website.
