Adela Panduro Silvano (Peruvian, b. 1970) Shipibo-Konibo Kene Serving Bowl Master Amazonian Ceramic Vessel
This exceptional Shipibo-Konibo serving bowl is an original hand-crafted ceramic work by renowned Peruvian master artisan Adela Panduro Silvano. Individually formed and decorated by hand, the vessel combines a balanced rounded profile with the intricate geometric imagery characteristic of the ancestral ceramic traditions of the Peruvian Amazon.
The exterior is encircled by an elaborate band of kene designs composed of interlocking linear, stepped, and labyrinth-like patterns. Executed in cream, black, reddish brown, and warm earth tones, the decoration creates a continuous rhythmic composition around the body of the vessel. Broad dark borders frame the central design, while the warm terracotta-colored interior provides an attractive visual contrast.
Within Shipibo-Konibo artistic culture, kene is a highly developed visual language associated with identity, harmony, spirituality, and the relationship between human beings and the natural world. Because the patterns are drawn and painted individually by hand, each ceramic work possesses variations that make it entirely unique.
With its refined proportions, carefully finished surface, and complex geometric decoration, this original vessel functions both as a traditional-inspired serving form and as a distinguished example of contemporary Indigenous Amazonian art.
Works by the artist have previously been presented through auctions organized by the Museo de Arte de Lima (MALI).
