He began his life by pursuing a military career. During a campaign in North Africa, he met the artist Jean Veber, with whom he became friends. He was the one who persuaded him to become an artist. Adolphe Albert turns out to be a particularly gifted artist. He enrolled in the courses of Léon Bonnat and those of Fernand Cormon, Boulevard de Clichy, from 1882-1883, where he met Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and they would become great friends. The two men frequent the same cafes and cabarets in Montmartre, sharing many memories and friends, like Marcellin Desboutin. In 1887, Adolphe exhibited for the first time at the Salon des Indépendants. In February 1891, Adolphe Albert, started engraving and became the secretary of the Society of French painters-engravers. After Lautrec's death in 1901, he moved to Giverny for a short time, where he met Claude Monet. Then he moved to Andelys with his wife, where he bought an estate: villa Les Tilleuls; after the war, many friend artists met there, such as Félix Vallotton, Jean-Eugène Clary, and he organized exhibitions bringing together paintings by post-impressionist painters. Aquafortist, wood engraver, author of colour monotypes, he is best known for his numerous oil landscapes depicting views of the Eure, Château-Gaillard and Andelys. He died in the Andelys on March 30, 1938
