[ translate ]

No COA - Shipping in USA $ 120 Adriaan Lubbers (Amsterdam, January 22, 1892 - New York, May 16, 1954) was a Dutch glass painter, painter, draftsman, set painter, theater designer, lithographer and cosmopolitan. After a few years of high school, Lubbers studied mechanical engineering at the MTS. Because of his father's refusal to let him follow an art education, Lubbers painted and drew exclusively in his spare time. In 1911 he was sent as a mechanic by Werkspoor to South America, where he lived in Buenos Aires, among other places. Although Lubbers never took lessons, he learned a lot from artist friends. He lived for some time with some artists in a farm on the Veluwe, where he increasingly focused on painting. In 1919 he settled in Bergen, where he rented the studio from Bernard Essers. Here he became friends with Leo Gestel, who encouraged him a lot. In 1922 he and a friend moved to New York for a few years, where he worked various jobs and drew and painted in his spare time. After wanderings in Dresden, the Ore Mountains, Italy and Spain, he was back in New York in 1926, where he had a major exhibition.
