Antique painting (oil on canvas) by Adrian Marinus Geyp (Adriaan Marinus Geijp) (1855 - 1926) , probably created towards the end of the 19th century.

Depiction of a farmer collecting wood for the winter with a wheelbarrow.

The painting is hand signed A. Geijp.

This is a well-known Dutch painter (born on November 22nd, 1855 in Middelburg, died on November 9th, 1926 in The Hague) of the 19th century with academic training.

Around 1880 he settled with his family in The Hague, from where he became known primarily as a landscape painter with Romantic influences.

The portrait format painting measures 58. 5 x 43. 5 cm. The frame is 73 x 58 cm.

Both the canvas and the paint application are in excellent condition. No color loss.

Fine application of paint using the glaze technique with raised impasto in the front area of the tree foliage, which gives the painting additional depth.

The canvas is well stretched.

No traces of previous restorations are visible.

The varnish is slightly yellowed due to age, which makes the painting recognizable as antique and gives it a pleasantly warm tone.

No dirt or darkening visible on the varnish.

The frame is also in good condition.
