Original vintage travel calendar advertising poster - Route of the Streamlined Empire Builder between Chicago and the Pacific Northwest via Glacier National Park - featuring a young native American wearing traditional dress and feathers in his hair, the caption below - Dancing Boy Blackfeet Indian Glacier National Park Montana - and small line illustrations of tepees, horses, mountains and lakes, instruments, people and weapons on the sides. Calendar below for December 1947 with information on the Dancing Boy Blackfeet Indian in underneath - Two Great North Railway logos and above an image of The New Empire Builder train, an orange and black streamline locomotive travelling at speed on tracks in front of a snow topped mountain landscape. Artwork by the German-American portrait artist and graphic designer Winold Reiss (1886-1953) who painted Native American tribal members on the Blackfeet Reservation from 1920. Launched in 1929, The Empire Builder was the flagship passenger train of the Great Northern Railway (1889-1970), originally operating a steam powered service that was re-equipped in 1947 to a streamliner service; it was relaunched in 1971 when it was taken over by Amtrak and now runs daily intercity services between Chicago and Seattle and Portland. Fair condition, tears, staining, creasing, metal bar on top edge, seperate paper attached in top left corner and for the calendar.
