Original vintage travel calendar advertising poster - Route of the Great Streamliners Empire Builder Western Star - featuring a native American man wearing traditional dress with a feather in his hair, sitting in front of a rocky mountain with the caption below - Middle Rider Young Blackfeet Indian Brave Glacier National Park In Montana - and small orange and white illustrations on the sides of tepees, men on horses and trees, the title text in bold stylised lettering below. Calendar below for December 1953 with information on the Middle Rider Young Blackfeet Indian Brave underneath. Artwork by the German-American portrait artist and graphic designer Winold Reiss (1886-1953) who painted Native American tribal members on the Blackfeet Reservation from 1920. Launched in 1929, The Empire Builder was the flagship passenger train of the Great Northern Railway (1889-1970), originally operating a steam powered service that was re-equipped in 1947 to a streamliner service; it was relaunched in 1971 when it was taken over by Amtrak and now runs daily intercity services between Chicago and Seattle and Portland. Good condition, creasing, tears, minor staining, metal bars on top and bottom edge, seperate paper attached in top left corner and for the calendar.
