The renowned American-born French entertainer, resistance agent, and civil rights activist Josephine Baker (1906-1975) performed as a Jazz Age cabaret dancer at the Folies Bergere, worked with French military intelligence and joined the French Resistance during WWII, supported the Civil Rights Movement and adopted 12 children during the 1950s-60s.
