Original vintage advertising poster for Lotus and Delta Shoes make walking a pleasure - Visit the moors and mountains of our native land. Every hour their magic changes - mingling blue and mauve and russet and grey. Great illustration by the British artist Michael Reilly (b. 1898) showing a scenic view of snow topped and wooded hills on the other side of a lake with a young lady in a white dress waving to passengers on a steamboat sailing over the calm water past a small town at the foot of hills, the text framed in the top left corner. Lotus Ltd (named after the beautiful white Lotus water lily flower found on the Nile Delta; 1814-1998) was a high quality shoe and boot company started in Stafford by Thomas Bostock in 1814; the family opened their first shop in 1926; the company was sold in 1970 when the last Bostock family member retired; after various acquisitions (including by Debenhams and Marks and Spencer) and heavy competition the company closed down in 1998.
