County: UK, year of printing: 1950s, designer: Unknown, size (cm): 77x51. Reginald Porter-Brown was the youngest of the four organists who opened the BBC theatre organ at St. George's Hall, London. Like many successful theatre organists, he started by playing the church organ when quite a youngster, and was assistant organist at a Bamsley church when he was only eleven. By the time he was twelve he was teaching, and became a choir master when only sixteen. For years he played at, and broadcast from, the Forum Cinema, Southampton, and also the Guildhall, Southampton. His signature tune, ' Oh, Mr. Porter is one of the catchiest and most familiar introductions of this kind to be heard on the air.
