Gorham mixed metalsmuseum quality mixed metals gorham sterling silver pie fork, 3-tine, 7". It is adorned with applied foliate elements including copper oak leaves on a branch with acorns and applied silver sand on a hand-hammered background. The tines are lightly gold-washed and feature a heavy geometric bright-cut design and frosted finish. It is not monogrammed and is in excellent condition. Among the most exciting and innovative periods in american silversmithing are the years between 1867 and 1887, a period of creativity in form inspired by the influence of the aesthetic design movement and the growing interest in all things japanese that permeated the american consciousness in the late 19th century.
