Affortunato GORY - Tall woman statue France - 1890-1919 - Spectacular and superbly sparking, this statue, made by A. Gory, renowned for his feminine subjects, presents very delicate details. Entirely made of silver bronze. It rests on a gilded bronze base with delicate open-work and embellished with contrasting red glass cabochons. A work of art of great presence and very decorative. . . Dimensions: statue + base: 72 cm; base height: 10 cm high, diameter: 28 cm. Affortunato Gory was an Italian sculptor, active from 1895 to 1925. Originally from Florence, he studied sculpture at the Academy, and like many Italian artists back then, he emigrated to Paris early 20th century. He changed his name from Fortunato Gori to Affortunato Gory and exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1902 with a woman's bust made of bronze and marble. Gory owes his success thanks to his graceful female sculptures and the mix of materials: bronze and marble, alabaster and ivory.
