African Ceremonial Dance Drum from Early 1900's
This tall ceremonial drum came from the Central African Republic and was hand-carved from a single piece of wood. It has animal hide on top for a drum skin, geometric designs going around the sides of the drum, and a beautiful wood grain in the middle. The drum was often used as a backup for other musical instruments like the African harp. The drum measures 48 in. high with a 9 in. diameter., and wear is commensurate with age and use.
