African Necklace w/ Brass Pendants & Red Bauxite Beads

West Africa, Ghana, Ashanti people, ca. 19th to mid-20th century CE. A collection of cast brass disc pendants and spherical beads created via the lost wax method, and bauxite beads, strung together in modern times on a wire as a wearable necklace. The suspension wire, S hook, and chain are modern - while the brass Ashanti beads likely date to the 19th and first half of 20th century CE. The bauxite beads are likely handcrafted in Abompe where hand tools such as wood drill bows are widely used to craft these beads today. Size of strand: 22" L (55.9 cm); brass discs: 1.6" Diameter (4.1 cm)

Condition Report: Chips and abrasions to jasper beads. Some rubbing and softening to brass with perforations and indentations to several spherical brass beads. Some areas of green patina.
