Afshar Bag
second half 19th century, 58 x 83 cm, South Persia, Sirjan
Half of a finely woven Afshar khorjin in the characteristic horizontal format. The midnight blue field contains two rows of five large shield palmettes each. Due to their offset arrangement, the motif on the right of the upper row is half obscured by the border. At the top left, a small red camel has been inserted into the free space. The flatwoven closure band and the original kilim back are preserved.
Condition
Very good condition.
