dated 1324 = 1906, 162 x 137 cm, South Persia, Sirjan
Six flowering vases face each other in mirror image in the open white field. The two vases aligned on the central axis are much larger than their counterparts placed at the sides. The large star at the centre of the field acts as the pivotal point of the composition. The late collector purchased the rug at Galerie Eberhart Herrmann in Munich in 1984. We refer readers to the comprehensive discussion in the exhibition catalogue, SOT VI.
HERRMANN, EBERHART, Seltene Orientteppiche VI. Munich 1984, no. 68
Condition
Slight signs of age and wear, minor stains. Good overall condition.
