An early to mid 19th-century copy after Andrea del Sarto's portrait of Bandinelli, of similar dimensions, which is held in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence. Long considered a self-portrait of the famous Florentine High Renaissance painter del Sarto, the subject is now recognised as as portrait of his friend, the sculptor, draughtsman and painter Baccio Bandinelli (1493-1560).
