After Antonio Allegri da Correggio, Italian 1489-1534- La Zingarella; oil on canvas, 47.6 x 38 cm. Note: A late 18th-century or early 19th-century copy after the original painting 'La Zingarella' (literally 'The little gypsy girl') by Correggio, dating to c.1516-17, and housed in the National Museum of Capodimonte, Naples. The Virgin Mary and baby Jesus are depicted resting in a forest glade on their journey into Egypt. Several putti gather overhead and a white rabbit (symbolising both Mary's virginity and fertility) can be seen at the lower left.
