Napoleon as Caesar, a bust, after the antique by Canova, 1804. In 1802 Napoleon brought the finest Italian neoclassical sculptor, Antonio Canova, to Paris to do a series of portrait marble sculptures of Napoleon.

After Napoleon saw one of the pieces, a marble relief with him wearing a laurel crown, he commissioned this large version.
