After Claude Michel, Clodion (French, 1738-14) Bronze Ca. 19th Cen., "The Triumph of Bacchus", H 15" L 10" Depth 7" | Bacchus (Dionysus in Greek myth), as the god who rewards or gifts men with wine. Signed "Clodion" on left top front of base. Claude Michel, known as Clodion was a sculptor from Lorraine, a pupil of Jean-Baptiste Pigalle, who was known to have received numerous awards for his mythological and allegorical depictions. Provenance: Property from a Rochester, MI private collector.
