After Johannes Fijt, Flemish 1611-1661- Dogs and a Bear fighting; oil on panel, signed indistinctly, 36x54.5cm Note: The original work, measuring 195x308cms can be found at the Alte Pinakothek in Munich, inv./cat.nr 255. The painting on offer is evidently a faithful and competent copy of the original, just excluding the architecture and foliage to the left. It is documented that the original was certainly in the private collection Clemens August of Bavaria, Elector and Archbishop of Cologne, Bonn/Brühl, by 1761, and the mechanically cut panel of the present works suggests a date of execution of around the 18th century, making it possible that the painting was made by a competent German artist of that period.
