After Luca della Robbia (Italian, 1400 - 1482)

Monumental sculptural high-relief plaster with fiber replica after original Luca della Robbia's marble carving "Cantoria" over the doors of the Scrisity of the Masses, The New Sacristy, the Cathedral in Florence. This panel illustrates the line in the Psalms which says "Praise him [the Lord] with sound of trumpet." Metal steel rod incorporated at the back to hang on the wall. Provenance: private collection, Pittsburgh, PA.

This replica is similar to plaster casting done for Carnegie Museum of Art, Hall of Architecture, Pittsburgh, PA, in the late 19th cemetery.
The "Cantoria" (singing loft) by della Robia was his first commission, in the Museo dell'Opera de Duomo, Florence.

Condition: Overall good, some losses and old restorations, as expected; can be fixed by restorer; heavy.
