DESCRIPTION: After Luis De Morales 'El Divino' (Badajoz, ca. 1509-1586) Oil on chiseled walnut panel painting. Features the depiction of the Virgin Mary with child in arms, she is wearing a large hat with round brim covered with gauze ribbons of subtle transparencies, appreciable in other Spanish and Portuguese paintings dating from the late 16th and early 17th centuries. Verso inscribed: 'Luis de Morales, 1509-1586' Panel mounted in period frame with nameplate attached and forged iron hanging fittings.

DIMENSIONS: Panel (H: 23" x L: 16.5") Frame (H: 31.5" x L: 24.75" )
CONDITION: Signs of restoration and in-painting overtime. Frame with wear to edges and minor chipping to carved ornamentation. Very minor termite damage to verso of panel at left corner.
