Relief in polychrome plaster representing the profile bust of Josephine Bonaparte. The work follows the models of Pierre-Jean David, a French sculptor, medalist and active mason. He adopted the name David d'Angers, following his entry into the workshop of the painter Jacques-Louis David in 1809, as a way both to express his heritage and to distinguish himself from the master painter.
