A concert musician from the RAI orchestra in Rome is selling a magnificent Italian violin of Bolognese school, replica of Augusto Pollastri. The instrument was chosen last year by Sotheby’s experts in London, Ingles and Hayday, and listed as a replica of Augusto Pollastri, “a violin after Pollastri twenty century”. The instrument has a label inside that reads “Augustus Pollastri Raphaelis Fiorini Alumnus Fecit Bononiae anno 1926”. There are also all the fire marks, one inside and one near the button. Of course, as certified in the catalogue, the instrument is sold as an Italian violin, “copy of Augusto Pollastri”. It dates back to the 1980s.
