Agate “Buddha's Eyes” Dzi bead, Liao dynasty
A perforated tubular amulet made of jet-black agate with an antique patina, treated with an alkaline solution and ivory pigment. It features two orbs (二眼) and an almond-shaped eye (佛眼) on the reverse. It symbolises the wisdom of the Buddha, harmony and protection. Liao Dynasty (916–1125) or later.
