Agate Carving of a Scholar with Stand, 19th Century

A Chinese agate carving of a scholar with a wooden stand and dating from the 19th century.

Dimensions are: 1 1/8 inches tall X 7/8 inches wide. All measurements are approximate.

Condition: There is a possible chip or inclusion to the bottom.

Provenance: From the estate of Mr. Kwok Woon Kun, formerly a shareholder of Wing On Company, a well-known department store group in Hong Kong and Shanghai. This collection was collected in Hong Kong prior to Mr. Kwok's death in 1969. His collection was shipped to Canada in 1981 and was inherited by Mr. Kwok’s daughter and grandson.Â
