A large, solid, spindle-shaped ritual bead carved from natural agate in shades of grey, honey, chestnut and cream, with a hole for threading. It makes masterful use of the mineral’s natural stratification, leaving the sinuous veins visible. Tang Dynasty (618–907 AD) or later.
