Agate Dzi pendant, Liao dynasty
An amulet centred on a unique, spindle-shaped, veined agate bead, flanked by two smaller spherical agate beads with two-tone greyish and bluish stripes. The central bead displays a sophisticated pattern of concentric bands in bluish-grey, cream and black, culminating in the centre with a natural ‘eye’. Liao Dynasty (916–1125) or later.
