Agate Dzi pendant, Liao dynasty
A pendant with a stylised spindle-shaped form, pierced for hanging. Carved from a block of agate that is chestnut-coloured at the ends, the central section displays a pattern of three vertical mustard-coloured stripes framed by thick black bands. This iconography symbolises the stability of the three worlds. Liao Dynasty (916–1125) or later.
