Agate ‘Shòu’ Dzi bead, Liao dynasty
Ritual bead, crafted from black agate with engraved decoration in an ivory-white hue. It has a spindle-shaped body with a longitudinal perforation, decorated with annular bands at the ends and linear motifs stylising the auspicious characters ‘寿’ and ‘王’. The surface displays an antique patina. Liao Dynasty (916–1125) or later.
