Agate cameo. Allegorical mask. The unusual depiction is structured according to two levels: in the first one there is a round, frontal face,similar to a sun, charachterized by a smiling grin; in the second, a hairflow (sketched as a mane or rays) is organized in a sort of radial pattern, and two small wings (as for a Gorgon) can be spot in the upper part. A spiral ornament (in the typical position of an aureole) to be noticed between the wings. Stylized effigy of a particular symbolic value, presumably related to an astral scope. Rare. 16th-17th century.
