About this Item: C. Van Benthuysen, Albany, NY, 1851. Hardcover. Condition: VG. First Edition. . . Composition and distribution of the soils and rocks. 81 plates w/ 90 views, hand colored lithos of fruit, all present. Brown embossed cloth, gilt decorated/lettered cover and spine. Later typed 4 pg. related info on varieties of the fruit laid in. Light extremity wear, rubbing, flecking. A couple tiny closed edge tears on spine head. Some foxing on plates, several w/ originally applied gum arabic overlay and offsetting, 3 or 4 pgs w/ a small wrinkle up to 3". A few of the cross sectional views of the sliced fruit are not hand colored on multiple view plates though every plate has hand coloring. Overall a nice copy. ; Many beautiful color lithos; Oversized; 81 many text pages.
