Aida Seiho (1926-1998) - Sosaku Kokeshi (37 cm) - Titled: 'Osage No Ko' or 'Pigtailed Girl'

This is a very rare Vintage Sosaku Kokeshi by Aida Seiho. The main features of this doll are undoubtfully the two long pigtails. This kokeshi is therefore titled 'Osage No Ko' or 'Pigtailed Girl'. The body of this doll is engraved in a symmetric pattern. Aida Seiho aka Aida Harumine was born in 1932 and passed away in 1998. Apart from having won numerous awards, he was also a driving force within the ‘Sosaku Kokeshi Movement’ during the 60s. He has created some outstanding kokeshi that became real classics of which this Pigtailed Girl is maybe the most important one. Height: 37 cm!
