Aimee Thiebault, Miniature Portrait

Aimee Thiebault, French, 1780-1868, Portrait Miniature,on paper, signed lower right.Note: Aimee Thibault was born in Paris and exhibited at the Salon from 1804 to 1810. (The Salons, beginning in 1667, was the official art exhibition of the Academie des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Between 1748 and 1890 it was arguably the greatest annual or biennial art event in the Western world.) She came to the U.S. for a short period (1834-1837) and worked in NYC during that time. Her miniatures are in various museums, including the Met, and that of the New York Historical Society.
