biography
Born in L. A. as the daughter of Japanese diplomats, Akira Hiro grew up with the traditions of her Japanese homeland in the foreign environment of American pop culture. The question of original identity becomes the driving force for her in the search for her own artistic visual language. In doing so, she increasingly uses fragments of dispersed formal elements, which she assembles into a coherent visual language.
