Albarello with St. Philomena of Rome : Sicily, Palermo, early 17th century. Slender cylindrical form with slightly indented wall; in a high oval cartouche a female saint with an arrow in her throat on a landscape base in front of a yellow background, on the verso arabesques in geometrical cartouches, acanthus band on shoulder and foot. Majolica, painted in blue, green, yellow and ochre. H. 28 cm. - Glaze chipping in the shoulder and foot area. - Cf. R. A.
