Alberico Gentili (1551-1611) was an erudite jurist of clear fame in the continental and non-continental panorama. He taught, among other things, at Oxford in 1587 and thanks to this dimension not limited to Italian territories, his positions acquired great international credibility thanks to his "De iure belli" (1598) which represents the pinnacle of the doctrine on the right of war in the sixteenth-century Italian panorama and determined great influence
