Albert Graefle (German, 1809-1889). An antique Orientalist portrait of a Vestal oil painting on canvas. In the classic Baroque style, work depicts a young poised woman and her mandolin instrument in a garden setting seated on a Persian style rug, large leafs and flowers. Artist signature at right center of work. Presented in an ornate gilt period frame with artist name plaque to bottom center. Stamp on verso in Gaelic, and retains an aged German label affixed to lower left stating "CASTLE RIGHT WING" Provenance: This item originated from a distinguished auction event hosted by Sotheby's in October 1995, designated as LOT 307 at the Neues Schloss (New Castle), Baden-Baden, Germany. It was a part of the royal collection belonging to Margrave Max von Baden (1933-2022), a prominent figure in European aristocracy and the first cousin of Prince Charles III. This auction showcased a selection of valuable items from his esteemed collection.

Dimensions: 67 X 55 X 4 in.

Condition: Good to fair overall antique condition, having average surface wear, aged toning and aged surface craquelure throughout. Estate fresh to the market.
