Alberta Johanna Meijer-Smetz (1893-1953) was a student at the Rijksacademie in Amsterdam, and received drawing lessons from A. M. de Groot and painting lessons from Johan Meijer. She was married to the painter Johan Meijer, who is known for the beautiful winter views he made in the vicinity of Blaricum. She lived and worked in Amstelveen, Amsterdam 1917, Laren (Nh) 1917 – 1919, then in Blaricum. She painted, watercolored and preferably drew flowers and still lifes with flowers. She was also a craftsman and made many color etchings and engravings. She has also designed catalogs for flower nurseries. She was a member of B. K. Laren-Blaricum. The offered painting shows a flower still life The painting is in good condition, the work is framed with a wooden frame. Board dimensions: 18 x 18 cm The work comes from a private collection of an art collector. You are most welcome to come and view the works with us.
