Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528) - "Gesù Cristo si congeda dalla madre"

[ translate ]

\Artist: Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528)
Technique: Etching\Signature: Artist's stamp\Dimensions: 12_9_1_cm
Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528) . "Jesus Christ takes leave of his mother" Beautiful engraving on laid paper. The work is part of the 36 plates plus cover page created by Albrecht Durer to illustrate the Small Passion in 1510, ‘one of Durer’s most important works’. Given the very clean hatching and the well-defined figures, this could be a first edition or the Italian edition of 1612. The original plates engraved by the master were used for every edition, for this reason the subsequent editions had less clear lines and less defined subjects due to the wear of the matrices. The last edition was made in 1884 by Henry Cole of the South Kensington Museum. In this last edition some plates have been restored. The work is in perfect condition given its age. The mat serves only as protection for shipping, the sheet is not attached to the cardstock, it comes off without problems and can be attached on any other support without danger of damaging the incision. It will be sold with certificate by Alter Ego art gallery. Shipping via express courier. Professionally packaged.
