My name is Alejandro Vico, graduate in Fine Arts, Master in Drawing and Master in Production and Research from the FF. BB of Granada. I have held exhibitions throughout Spain and Europe.
My work focuses on the use of gunpowder as an artistic-plastic material.
As if I were an alchemist, I prepare the mixture of materials, make the image on the canvas with gunpowder and finally set it on fire. Everything is very fast, chaotic and performative, there is a lot of movement, a lot of action.
From destruction arises creation.
The result is a powerful, shocking image, the result of the combination of the chance of fire and gunpowder.
Gunpowder generates its own poetics where details such as the smell, the material, the perforated fabric, make up a microcosm to generate an image, this makes the work unique and unrepeatable, thus creating its own language.
