Alessandro Guerriero - Chair, Sculpture - 1979 Rietveld Zig Zag redesign

[ translate ]

A chair reproduction by Alessandro Mendini: Re. Design of the Modern Movement chairs: Zig Zag Chair by Rietveld, 1978. This work was on display at the exhibition “Re-design 1979-2019/Alchimia vs Ghigos” curated by Alberto Zanchetta; a dialogue between the exuberant provocations of Alchimia in the late 1970s and a contemporary 3D print 'redesign' signed by Ghigos Studio. The ‘Redesign 1979-2019’ exhibition suggests an imaginary dialogue between the exuberant provocations of Alchimia in the late 1970s and a contemporary 3D print ‘redesign’, proposed again after 40 years by Alessandro Guerriero himself and revisited under a technological perspective by Ghigos. The Universal chair by Joe Colombo and the Zig Zag by Rietveld thus become opportunities to stage a short circuit between past, present and near future, between the roots of a "banal, psychic, artisanal" design that maintains its visionary power and a increasingly IT, open-source and democratic design. The Visual Alphabets are changing, new Cosmetics are being sought, innovative technologies are being used, but has the concept of Redesign really changed? Guerriero and Ghigos propose their unlikely, provocative, emotional visions - expressions of new Alchemies or processes in 8 and 16 bit "low resolution", where "craftsmanship, industry, information technology, techniques and current and outdated materials" coexist peacefully (A. Mendini) . The ‘digital fabrication’ chairs are made thanks to the collaboration of WASP and the Milanese Fab. Lab Ideas bit Factory. Exhibitions: Fuorisalone 2019, Milano; Design Differente, 2019, Milano Please note: This unique piece is currently on display/exhibition. After the payment has cleared, it will take 10/15 days for dismantling the exhibition + creating decorative and protective packaging in Boolean subtraction nesting + shipping.
