Specchi was among the students of Carlo Fontana, and was his main collaborator for the engravings of the architectural volumes published between 1692 and 1697n. Thanks to publishing ventures on architecture, at the age of thirty-six Specchi received his first recognition from the world of the arts with admission to the congregation of the Virtuosi at the Pantheon. n. After the restoration he carried out of the Pantheon he received much public recognition which coincided with his aggregation to the Accademia di S. Luca. n.
