Fantastic view of Piazza della Rotonda with the Pantheon in very good state of conservation in the National Chalcography edition with dry stamp, wide white margins, traces of old attacks on the backnn. The engraver's name appears on a stone to the right of the composition, together with two figures. n. Graphic scale of 150 Roman palmsnn. Large scene of daily life of the time with carriages, shopkeepers, artisans, ladies walking, knights, nobles in conversation, artists and commoners. On the building on the right you can see a balcony, which was rare in 17th century Rome, and note the wooden slat roofs of the shops. n. The perspective leading inside the Pantheon is beautifulnn. Specchi was among the students of Carlo Fontana, and was his main collaborator for the engravings of the architectural volumes published between 1692 and 1697n. Thanks to publishing ventures on architecture, at the age of thirty-six Specchi received his first recognition from the world of the arts with admission to the congregation of the Virtuosi at the Pantheon. n. After the restoration he carried out of the Pantheon he received much public recognition which coincided with his aggregation to the Accademia di S. Luca. n.
